Thomas sees red as Millers dodge unwelcome record

- By ARINDAM REJ

HUDDERSFIELD manager Andre Breitenreiter denied this was a a must-win game after his relegationthreatened, 10-man team left the field to boos.

Sorba Thomas was controversially sent off for two quick yellows early in the second half as his Terriers team-mates failed to break down bottomplaced Rotherham.

It meant Rotherham avoided a club recordequalling 10 successive league defeats – and stopped the rot after successive 5-0 thrashings.

Huddersfield fans were fuming and their chants reflected frustration at Breitenreiter’s lack of subs.

Breitenreiter said: “We all wanted to win but we played with 10 men for over 30 minutes.

“We are not Man City or Barcelona, to play with 10 men and score five goals.

“A must-win game means when you lose, the world is going down. A final is a must win. We have eight more games.”

Thomas’ first yellow in the 55th minute was for dissent and his second, three minutes later, came after he clipped Ollie Rathbone, through on goal.

Breitenreiter said: “Sorba Thomas told me in the dressing room that he got the ball (for the second yellow) and Hoggy (Jonathan Hogg) agreed.”

Millers boss Leam Richardson said: “The lads were on the floor and I had to pick them up. I don’t think anyone shirked away.”
