Star drops 5 new tracks... but label says no visuals
Leigh-anne Pinnock will have her work cut out to make her new single a hit – it seems her record label is not making a video for it.
The former Little Mix star announced this week that she is dropping five new tracks “that fit together in their own world”.
The first, Stealin Love, is expected to land this week.
But insiders say Warner Records have not forked out for a shoot to accompany the release – after her singles Don’t Say Love and My Love got only a lukewarm response.
And they claim the singer has already had to put some of her own money into her solo career after failing to get the funds that she wanted approved. One says: “There was so much excitement around Leighanne’s solo career but that seemed to wane after the first two tracks. “Warner heavily backed Don’t Say Love for her debut but were disappointed with how it charted. “The same was true with My Love.” Our source tells us: “There’s no doubt that Leighanne is a huge talent and solo success can take time to build. “But lately she’s struggled to get the financial backing she hoped for – to the extent that she has even contributed herself to the campaign. And now her latest track, Stealin Love, is being released with no video.”
Announcing her plans on Instagram just days after former bandmate Perrie Edwards teased her own solo material, Leigh-anne said: “I’ve been writing and recording so much, working on my album.
“But while making it, I’ve made a collection of songs that fit together in their own world.
“The first song is coming next week. S***’s about to get very real.”
But while Perrie released a clip for solo debut Forget About Us – taken from its video – Leigh-anne shared a snip of herself dancing in a studio.
Her solo debut last year and its follow-up both came with bigmoney videos. But while Don’t Say Love just missed out on the top 10, peaking at 11, September’s My Love, with Ayra Starr, only made it to 28.
And since then, sources say, she has been locked in the studio trying to come up with new material.
We’re hoping her latest tracks are worth the wait.
