NORWICH head coach David Wagner praised the all-round contribution of Gabriel Sara after a draw with Swansea kept their play-off push on track.

The Brazilian provided one and scored another to ensure the Canaries still have their fate in their own hands.

A victory at Birmingham on Saturday will guarantee extending their season.

Wagner said: “A wonderful goal from Sara and a great assist. If he had shown a little more composure he would have had another two or three clear-cut chances.

“He works hard, he has the vision. He’s outstanding and a top professional, he always has in his head a team-first mentality. It’s a pleasure to have him in the team.

“If we have to have another good performance and result next weekend, I have so much trust and belief in this group.”

Norwich were stunned in the 24th minute when Jamie Paterson fired home from a tight angle.

Sara unleashed a drive from outside the box in the 34th minute before providing Josh Sargent with a fine cross to make it 2-1 in injury time.

The visitors equalised from the spot eight minutes after the restart through captain Matt Grimes after Angus Gunn upended Ronald Pereira.

Swansea manager Luke Williams said: “A draw is a decent reflection of the game.

“We are a team at the moment that doesn’t have a clear motivation so we have players in there who don’t need to be fighting for something so obvious.

“We are fighting for people who want to watch us.”
