Terriers’ lack of bite upsets Andre

- By CLIVE HETHERINGTON

HUDDERSFIELD edged closer to the drop and boss Andre Breitenreiter admitted: “Maybe it’s the right thing that we now go down.”

The Terriers are all but relegated to League One due to their vastly inferior goal difference, while Birmingham know they must win at home to play-off hopefuls Norwich on the final day to have realistic hope of staying up.

Japan winger Koji Miyoshi made the breakthrough for Blues just before the break, but striker Rhys Healey replied two minutes into the second half as the Terriers rallied.

German Breitenreiter has only won two of his 12 games since agreeing a two-and-a-half-year deal in February, but refuses to discuss his future until the end of the season.

He said: “We’ve had so many problems in the last few weeks, months and maybe the whole year.

“Maybe it’s the right thing that we now go down – we’ve had 18 draws and conceded 75 goals.”

City interim boss Gary Rowett, in his second spell in charge in the wake of Tony Mowbray’s medical leave, heard the travelling fans direct chants of “You’re not fit to wear the shirt” at his players.

Rowett stressed: “The fans follow us in great numbers, at this stage of the season they see other teams winning. We deserve to be where we are.”

Blues struck when Keshi Anderson’s left-wing cross bypassed the home defence for Miyoshi to finish at the far post for his seventh goal this season.

The Terriers were back in it, though, after Healey swept home Jack Rudoni’s pull-back from the right.
