Lindsey is proud to prove play-off doubters wrong

- By STUART WALKER

CRAWLEY pipped Barrow to the final play-off spot courtesy of goals from Danilo Orsi-dadomo and Klaidi Lolos, which gave them a 2-0 victory over Grimsby.

Boss Scott Lindsey said: “We were written off and I dedicate reaching the playoffs to all the people that tipped us for relegation.”

Sutton boss Steve Morison is not going anywhere, despite his side being relegated from the Football League.

A late Harry Smith leveller in a 4-4 draw against MK Dons was not enough to keep Sutton up.

The draw at Stadium:mk brought to an end Sutton’s three-year stay in League Two but Morison is keen to stay on. He said: “I’m really proud of their efforts and it’s a really good place to start from. I’m pleased they put a performance in like that and we can use that as ammo next season.

“I’m not going anywhere. Why would I?

“I’ve been treated amazingly since I’ve been here and love coming to work and these players.”

Colchester preserved their Football League status despite a 1-1 draw against Crewe, who struck late on through Elliott Nevitt after Noah Chilvers had put the U’s ahead.

Boss Danny Cowley said: “I was really proud of the players, the energy they found. I’ve inherited two relegation battles, one at Huddersfield and one here, and I’ve been fortunate to be successful in both. It’s been like torture this week because I know how much this club means to the people that work here and the supporters and, of course, you carry that responsibility.”

Kian Spence sealed a 1-1 draw for Barrow against already-promoted Mansfield, who went ahead through George Maris, but the Bluebirds ultimately fell one point outside the top seven.

So, too, did Bradford despite brushing past Newport 4-1 thanks to goals from Calum Kavanagh, Andy Cook, Bobby Pointon and Jamie Walker.

Forest Green prop up the table despite Charlie Mccann’s effort giving them a 1-0 win over Notts County. Andy Cannon struck late on as Wrexham finished second following a 2-1 win over champions Stockport.

Ten-man Doncaster coughed up a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Gillingham. Cammy Smith secured a point for Morecambe in a 3-3 draw at Swindon, for whom Charlie Austin scored twice, while Salford and Harrogate finished 2-2 in a game where all four goals were scored in the first half.

Jack Nolan scored two penalties as Accrington came from a goal down to beat Tranmere 4-1 and Omar Bugiel’s hat-trick helped AFC Wimbledon thrash Walsall 5-1.
