Sky dive team raise €2,400 for Crumlin hospital
THE family of a 7-year-old New Ross boy who suffers from haemophilia have raised around €2,400 to date through a sky dive charity campaign, a bucket collection and a quiz night.
A large crowd attended the quiz night at Corcoran’s pub in New Ross in late May when €860 was raised and €1,500 was raised at a bucket collection in Tesco over that weekend.
More money is being donated online and through sponsorship cards to five members of Robbie Kehoe’s family, his father, Paul; grandfather, Paul Godkin; aunt Nicola Gannon and family friends, Aine Sheehy and Ivan Croke.
Robbie’s mother Leeann said: ‘I am a mild haemophiliac but Robbie has a more severe form which basically means his blood doesn’t clot and he has internal bleeds from a simple fall. We give him weekly injections.’
Leeann said Robbie, who attends Michael St NS, is a very active child who enjoys playing hurling. ‘We don’t wrap him in cotton wool.’ The sky dive, which the Kehoe family have called Hopping for Haemophilia takes place on July 2 in Kilkenny.
Leeann thanked everyone who supported her family and who attended the table quiz.
‘ The community is being great and supportive. We want to thank everyone who donated online and who supported us with our bucket collection in Tesco. Crumlin have been great to us and we want to give something back.’
