CEMETERY MASSES

The first of the annual Cemetery Masses will take place in Ballyneale on next Tuesday evening, June 28, commencing at 8 p.m. Then on Friday July the first Mass will be held at the same time in the New Cemetery at Rosbercon. VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED

The Irish Cancer Society’s ‘Volunteer Driver Service’ is a free transport service available to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in University Hospital at Ardkeen in Waterford City. Any patient wishing to avail of this facility please talk to your healthcare professional or call Gail in the Irish Cancer Society HQ on 01-2310566 for further information. THE PASTORAL PLAN

The Rosbercon Pastoral Council recently heard a very informative talk by Olivia Maher from Tullaroan on the plans for the Catholic Church in future years in the Diocese of Ossory. The Diocesan Pastoral Council and the Deanery Pastoral Councils have been busy of late co-ordinating and furthering the urgent need for the Diocesan Plan to be put into operation. This seeks to invite all groups to come together on a journey which means a new era of change in the Catholic Church.

One of its more important sections will see a clustering of parishes and with a growing shortage of priests seeing perhaps only one Mass being celebrated weekly in any given parish. More and more lay people will have to be involved in the running of church services. Here in Rosbercon, the Pastoral Council are very active in this regard organising the cemetery Masses, the Baptismal teams, Senior Citizen Masses, November Mass for the deceased, Christmas Cards to our Emigrants and organising the Christmas Giving Tree. As well, we are lucky in having excellent teams of Church Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Choirs, Collectors and Altar Servers so we are not doing too badly in this regard. GAA NEWS

Last Thursday evening the Tullogher-Rosbercon GAA Club hosted a Mass for their deceased members at the clubrooms in Brownstown. Organised by chairman, John Ryan of Ballycurran, and with the Mass celebrant being Fr Dan Cavanagh PP, there was a great attendance present. Afterwards Fr Dan blessed the club rooms and playing pitches which he said were a credit to the club in providing such an outlet for sport to the youth of the parish.

The time sheet for the golf classic at New Ross Golf Club on Friday, July 1, organised jointly by the Tullogher-Rosbercon and Glenmore GAA Clubs, is now full with 62 teams booked in to play. Anyone who would still like to sponsor a tee box please phone Paddy Gaule on 880230 as soon as possible. CONGRATULATIONS

Many congratulations go to Stephen Cotterell of Ballykenna who married Lorna McGrath from Waterford in Ferrybank Church on Friday, June 10. We send them best wishes and hope that they will have a long and happy life together.
