Sarah Nolan from Finchogue spent six years at the school, having undertaken Transition Year. She said she is considerin­g going on to further education and is looking forward to what lies ahead.

At Our Lady of Lourdes, Mairead O’Shea from Ballinbano­gue said she was emotional and nervous arriving at the school where she spent six years of her life. Delighted with her results, she said she hopes to study Business at the University of Limerick. Bernie White from Clongeen said she was very scared about her results, especially Biology, but was thrilled when she opened the envelope. She plans to study veterinary nursing in UCD, adding that she will miss the girls and was looking forward to celebratin­g the night away with them at ‘ the mighty Stores!’

Alice O’Connor from Rosbercon said she was excited and nervous arriving at her old school Wednesday morning.

‘I was excited to see what my life was going to hold for me and I was nervous because I didn’t know how I was going to do.’

Alice said she was delighted with her results, particulal­ry Irish. She plans to study to become a primary teacher in St Pat’s.

Paula Kehoe from Foulksmill­s wasn’t phased by the heady excitement of the day.

‘Ah grand. I wasn’t stressed,’ was how she reacted when asked about any Leaving Cert nerves. Paula plans to study Business in Carlow IT.

‘I was absolutely over the moon with my results. I did way better than I thought I would.’

Her class mate Katie Kelly from Fethard on Sea said she was happy with her results and plans to study Nutritiona­l Science in UCC.

She said she had many nice memories from her time at the school.

Triona McEvoy from Mullinavat said she had to sit down and open her results with shaking hands she was so nervous.

‘I was afraid I’d added them up wrong so I had to add them up a few times. I was delighted with how I got on, especially in Business and Irish. I hope to study Business and Irish at UCC.’
