On his return to Ireland he took up trawler fishing and was a dedicated member of the RNLI. Known for his good nature and heart of gold he was at his happiest when doing a good turn for people. Because of his good nature he was held in high esteem by anyone who met him and this was reflected in the large number of people who came to pay their respects to him and his family, and the guard of honour by the RNLI. Michael’s greatest achievement in his life was his two children, Ann and James, who he was very proud of in every way. His hobbies included fishing in Duncannon and reading and he was an avid Liverpool FC fan. Michael fought his illness with great courage and strength and never complained, his good nature remaining throughout. He spent his final time in the care of his sister’s residence and which meant he was back in the home family place at Gate Lodge, Blackhill, Duncannon and this was a great comfort to him. Neighbours and friends provided great company to him in his final months and this is greatly appreciated by the family. Michael passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 10. Michael will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

May he rest in peace.
