Bride and groom’s theatrical wedding:
HISTORY was made in St Michael’s Theatre last week when Duncormick woman Anita Doran married her long term boyfriend there.
Anita who is the owner of Waggin Tails Mobile Dog Grooming married Allen O’Donnell who is originally from the Glenties in the theatre on Friday, September 9. It is the first wedding to be celebrated in the historic building since 1902 bridging the 114 gap since St Michael’s was the parish church for New Ross.
The couple had a spiritual wedding in the theatre before heading to a reception in White’s Hotel. Vanessa Livesey was the celebrant on the day.
Anita is the daughter of Murt and Annette Doran while Allen is the son of Joan and Eunan O’Donnell.
Bridesmaids on the day were Martina Doran, Amanda Walsh, Marie Bonner, Laura Murphy and Doreen Flynn while the groomsmen were Kevin McElhinney, Stephen Bonner, Dermot O’Donnell, Declan Bonner and Shane O’Reilly.
Anita said: ‘We decided to use the theatre because I just wanted something a bit different and unique. We wanted something intimate where we could get married on our terms. The theatre seemed so romantic and the minute we thought of it as a venue we had fingers and toes crossed that they would say yes.
‘ Tomas and the team were so helpful and accommodating and the theatre itself is beautiful with all the lighting and starry back-drop. The couple are currently travelling around Ireland and will head off on a sun holiday in November.
