New Ross Standard

PHOTO FINISH!

-

After 24 years of taking photographs for the New Ross Standard, Paddy Delaney hung up his camera and retired last week.

ONE of the most experienced newspaper photographers in the region, Mary Browne, has joined the New Ross Standard team.

Mary has worked for national, regional and local newspapers for three decades, having started working with her father PJ at his studio on Bridge Street.

Along with her brother Patrick she took over running her father’s business when he retired and today they run Browne’s Photography.

Mary said: ‘As a child I used to go around with my Dad and after I finished school I started working in the studio. I’ve always had an interest in photography and I started off working in the darkrooms which no longer exist as it’s all computer based now.

‘It’s a very interesting job because of all of the different people you meet and it’s my job to capture the photographs and tell the story of their lives.’

Mary is married to Jimmy Sinnott and has two daughters, Emma and Nichola.

She has covered numerous major stories and sporting occasions over the years.

‘I have worked for a number of national, regional and local newspapers and I am looking forward to working with the New Ross Standard. Over the years I’ve covered happy and sad occasions, stories of ordinary people in all different kinds of situations and I look forward to continuing my work with the New Ross Standard which covers a large area, providing excellent coverage to its readers across the district.’
