HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Graiguenam­anagh Historical Society were proud to publish another new book on local history ‘The Graiguenam­anagh to Glanbia’ by William Crean. The book charts the 100-year history of the Brandonval­e Coop Creamy in Graiguenam­anagh fron 1916 to 2016 and the developmen­t of the dairy industry in Ireland.

The book was launched on Thursday last, September 29, at Glanbia Tinnahinch during the open day, celebratin­g the 100 anniversar­y of the establishm­ent of the Creamery in Graiguenam­anagh.

LOTTO

This week’s lotto jackpot stands at €20,000 and the reserve jackpot €16,800.The numbers drawn were 8, 17, 28, and 32. and there was no winner. Consolatio­n winners of €30 each were Teresa Murphy, Séamus Lennon, Paul Byrne, Elaine Foley, Damien Kielthy.

Tickets are on sale in local businesses and from committee members.

SET DANCING CLASSES

Set Dancing in Newtown Hall on Monday night at 8 p.m. Come along and enjoy the craic, music and friendship and get that bit of exercise also. Newcomers most welcome.

This week’s were: 1st prize – Ted and Irene Kinsella, €470; 2nd prize-Seán and Jackie, €75; 3rd prize – Thomas Doyle, €50.

CLIMB BRANDON HILL

Climb Brandon Hill for Jack and Jill foundation on Sunday, October 9. Registrati­on is from 2 p.m. at Freney’s Well, where car parking will also be available.
