THE DERBY CLASH

The local derby semi-final clash between the intermediate hurlers of Tullogher-Rosbercon and Glenmore takes place as part of a double header at Nowlan Park this coming Sunday, October 23. In the other game long time kingpins of Kilkenny hurling, Carrickshock and Tullaroan do battle Both Tullogher and Glenmore came through their quarter final fixtures last Saturday with each team having a point to spare over their rivals after two thrilling contests.

A week ago Tullogher/Rosbercon and Thomastown finished level with 0-17 apiece. This time round it was Tullogher who edged it on a score line of 1-15 to 0-17 with the goal scored by Jason Sheily proving to be crucial in securing victory by the minimum margin and booking their place in the county semi-final.

It was a similar story with Glenmore they too played out a draw with St Patrick’s Ballyraggett a week ago, 0-16 points all. In their replay they upped the ante clocking up 0-24 to their opponents 3-14-again a one point winning margin.

So, the stage is set for the clash of the neighbours with perhaps Glenmore being slight favourites after their 11 points win over Tullogher in the recent Shield Final. But this is the championship with a place in the final at stake and neither team will go down lightly.
