Mum says children abducted to Pakistan

ESTRANGED HUSBAND FAILED TO RETURN KIDS AFTER WEEKEND, COURT TOLD

-

A WORRIED Wexford woman attended the District Court in Wexford to tell Judge Gerard Haughton her children had been abducted and taken to Pakistan.

She told how her estranged husband had the children by arrangement at the weekend and was due to return them by 5 p.m. the previous Sunday night.

Garda Inspector Pat McDonald said it appeared that the husband departed from Ireland on Saturday with the children aboard a flight for Abu Dhabi, due to transfer on to Lahore.

The applicant said she had no solicitor and Judge Haughton told her that the court could do nothing immediately to assist her in the circumstances.

When the case was recalled later, the husband’s solicitor Siobhan Dunne was in court to state that she had no instructions from her client.

The wife now had documents prepared for the court seeking return of her missing children.

She said she expected to obtain an email address for the husband.

The judge indicated that he was willing to grant her an order allowing her serve the paperwork by email and he adjourned for one day to allow her obtain the address.

The following day, at Gorey Court, the mother recalled the Sunday when she was expecting the children home at 5 p.m.

When they had not been delivered, she rang the gardaí at 7.30 p.m. Officers in Dublin then called to the husband’s apartment but there was no reply at the door.

The applicant was advised on the Monday by gardaí that father and children had left the country.

Through the landlord at the apartment, she obtained an email address for her husband.

The judge approved the arrangements to send via email an order requiring return of the children.

The court also allowed the transmission of the order by text to the phone of the husband’s father in Pakistan.

It was further directed that documents should be served on Siobhan Dunne though the judge felt that the solicitor would not be obliged to send them on to her client.
