Step back in time in magical New Ross this Christmas

-

NEW ROSS is a riverside beacon of festive cheer with more Christmas lights and activities for the kids than ever before this year.

New Ross and District Chamber of Commerce has supplemented the festive lighting in town this year by adding €5,500 worth of new lights to enhance the initial €75,000 investment made by Wexford County Council last year.

The additional lights are hung primarily in Rosbercon, with extra elements added to the Quay, North Street and John Street.

With several new shops opening in recent weeks there is a better retail offering in the town than in recent years and with 70 shops partaking in the New Ross & District Chamber of Commerce Shopping Vouchers initiative New Ross is the place to shop this Christmas and January sales period.

In 2015 over €220,000 in vouchers were sold in the New Ross district, supporting local businesses and jobs.

Under the current revenue rules, employers are permitted to give a once off payment up to €500 worth of vouchers to each employee without any tax implications for either, i.e. the employee can accept vouchers without incurring PAYE, PRSI USC or BIK.

The employer is not liable for PRSI . Also if the voucher is treated as a bonus or part there of, it can be claimed as a business expense. The only obligation on the employer is to keep a record of employees that they issue vouchers to.

To the purchaser- the chamber will charge an administration fee of 7 per cent on the first €1,000.00 of any voucher order and 5 per cent on any additional amount up to €4,000. 5 per cent on orders of €4,000 and over.
