1 PETER PAN – THE PANTO: Enniscorth­y Musical Society will stage Peter Pan – The Panto in the Athenaeum from December 8 until December 11. This is the first time in almost 30 years that the musical society has stages a panto in the town and it is sure to attract audiences from far and wide. Edward O’Dowd and Emma O’Leary take on the role of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell respective­ly. Local rising stars Cailin Mullet, Christophe­r Kelly and Sean Milbourne take on the roles of Wendy, John and Michael Darling. The nasty Captain Hook is played by Jim Kealy while Therese Canavan Bolger will portray mean Mrs Hardigan. Caroline O’Connell, Alice Medcalf and Corah Dobbs will add some laughter in their roles of Widow Smeesmoo and her dimwitted sons, Smee and Smoo. Peter Pan tickets are available at the EMS booking office from 3pm until 6pm daily at the Athenaeum or at 085 8342140. The panto will be stages from Thursday to Saturday at 8pm with a matinee show on both Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. For further informatio­n visit edms.ie. 2 CATHERINE FULVIO: Renowned celebrity chef Catherine Fulvio of Ballyknock­en House and Cookery School in Co Wicklow will inform and entertain at a cookery demonstrat­ion in The Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey, this Wednesday, December 7. Doors open at 7 p.m. The event, which includes a cheese and wine reception beforehand, and an artisan food and craft fair, has been organised in aid of the Craanford underpass fund. Tickets are €15 each, and will be available on the door on the night. 3 FAIRYTALE MAGIC AT PANTOMIME: Rathnure Pantomime Society’s Christmas Panto, an original production based on Little Riding Hood called The Reddest of Them All, runs at Rathnure Hall on December 11 at 6 p.m., December 18 at 5.30 p.m., December 29 at 6.30 p.m.; December 12, December 14, 15, 16, 19, December 28 and Friday, December 30 at 7.45 p.m. For tickets call 087 0687801 in morning or 087 6954112 in evenings. 4 JOHN SPILLANE GIG: Cork singer-songwriter John Spillane will play a gig in Wexford this Wednesday, December 7 at Fusion Cafe in Monck Street under the banner Infusion Live Presents. A two-time Meteor award winner, Spillane is regarded as one of the most accomplish­ed songwriter­s in Ireland today. Prior to his solo career, he sang and played guitar with the Irish traditiona­l band Nomos. Admission is €15. Doors open at 8.30 pm. Support by Trish Gallagher. 5 THE KING AND I: Kilmore Variety Group will stage a show fit for royalty from December 8-10 when they bring The King and I to the Dun Mhuire Theatre. A cast of more than 70 will be in the spotlight for the show including Trisha O’ Callaghan, who will be gracing the stage in the role of Anna. Fintan O’Reilly of Mulrankin has been cast as The King of Siam and Bride Kinsella of Tomhaggard as his head wife Lady Thiang. The show kicks off at 7.30 p.m. 6 ‘THE MAN IN THE WOMAN’S SHOES’: It has earned acclaim in New York, the UK, and across Ireland, and now ‘The Man in the Woman’s Shoes’, written and performed by Mikel Murfi comes to St Mogue’s Hall, Inch, on Friday, December 9, at 8 p.m. The production is hosted by Coolgreany Amateur Dramatic Society which promises an unmissable evening’s entertainm­ent. The play, described as ‘hilariousl­y funny, tender and at times downright daft’, follows Pat Farnon as he walks from his cottage to town and back, meeting unforgetta­bly eccentric characters. Book at 089 4283763. 7 THE GATHERING OF WOMEN: Art exhibition­s, poetry readings and speeches are just some of the events on the cards for the ‘Gathering of Women’, which will be held by Access Wexford at Wexford County Council buildings on December 6. The event aims to highlight the Women’s Aid National 16 Days of Action ‘Change the Conversati­on’ Campaign for 2016, as well as showcase the work and talent of women from various communitie­s in Wexford. Project Co-ordinator at Access Marian Donegan will kick off the day by giving an overview of the work that the group does. The event will run from 11 a.m. until 1.30 p.m. at The Street in County Hall and is open to all.
