TALENTED KIDS DELIGHT AT FESTIVE MOVIES SHOW
THE Anne-Marie Cooney Stage school Christmas show delighted packed houses at St Michael’s Theatre earlier this month.
Featuring scores of children aged between three and 18 years, the show, called ‘A Night at the Movies’ featured popular songs from major movies.
Class 1 opened the show with songs from Home Alone and read a poem about the grinch before singing sweetly to Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
The boys stole the show with a routine from Men in Black and Ghostbusters finishing it by wetting the audience using water pistols.
Class 3 performed a piece from Alice in Wonderland and finishing their piece with a song from the children’s movie Madagascar.
Class 4 had a mix of High School Musical and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Class 5 performed a routine from Pitch Perfect. They danced to Can’t Stop the Feeling from Trolls and did a very chilling performance to the song Heathens from the film Suicide Squad. Senior students danced beautifully to When Doves Cry and Roxanne. The finale was choreographed by past pupil Aedin Mcgrath to Please Don’t Stop the Music. Anne Marie said: ‘ The solo singers all performed beautifully and the show was a huge success!’
The drama and singing coach was Sarah Collins and the musical director was Philip Kennedy. Anne-Marie would like to thank everyone that helped out. The school reopens on Tuesday, January 24 and Saturday, January 28. For more information please contact 086 8179098.
