BOOK LAUNCH

‘Castleboro, A Lost legacy’ by Damian Cullen will be launched on Thursday, December 15, at 8.30 p.m. in the Cloch Ban, Clonroche. This book gives a historical insight into the Castleboro estate from its foundation to its demise and from the arrival of the Carew family to their departure. Packed full of local history and photos, it will make great reading.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The winner of this week’s splitthe-pot was Andy Mahon, The pot was €374, Envelopes available in local business around the village, The draw will include an extra prize of a hamper over the next two weeks.

CAMOGIE CLUB AGM

Thank you to all who attended the camogie club AGM on Friday evening, November 25. All officers, managers and players were thanked for their hard work and commitment during a very successful year for the club. Committee Members and Managers for the 2017 season were elected as follows.

Well done to the boys and girls of St Aidan’s National School Clonroche who took part in the Sing Out Loud concert in the National Opera House. The concert was truly amazing. Huge thanks to the teachers who prepared them so well for this wonderful experience.

MONAHAN FIRE DAMAGE FUND

VINTAGE SOCIETY

The last run of the year by the Clonroche/Poulpeasty Vintage Club will be held as usual on St Stephen’s Day. It will commence at 12.30 from Clonroche to Aughyvouir. A large turnout is anticipate­d this year. The majority of the proceeds will go towards Clonroche Meals on Wheels. Further informatio­n available from Leo Tector at 087 2464479.

CLOUGHBAWN GAA

The Coiste na nÓg AGM was held on Friday, December 2. A vote of sympathy was extended to all families who had a loved one that passed away during the year. They wished Vice Chairman Ned Hogan a speedy recovery. The current managers reported to the meeting on the achievemen­ts made by each of their teams this season. The secretary, Treasurer and chairman also gave updates.

The present committee all stood for their positions and were ratified for a further year. The following managers were ratified for the 2017 season: under-8 Hurling – Barty Kennedy, under-8 Football – Jack Kavanagh, under-10 Hurling – Shane Ryan, under-10 Football – Barry Clare, under-12 Hurling – Martin Kehoe, under-14 Hurling – Brian Cooper, under-16 Hurling – Robert Kehoe, Minor Hurling - Séamus Flood.

On Monday, December 5, Cloughbawn GAA Coiste na nÓg were announced as the winners of the club of the Year 2016. Well done to all involved.
