W.I.T. to celebrate

-

W.I.T. G.A.A. club will celebrate 35 years of success on Friday, February 24, at Waterford Institute of Technology, and the event should attract plenty of Wexford folk given their strong involvement with college teams. This special Gathering event will bring together the members of the various hurling, camogie, handball and football teams since the club was founded in 1982. The event will provide an opportunity for the club members over the years to meet and recall their experience of time spent at W.I.T. and their activities with the G.A.A. club. Since its humble beginning in 1982, when the club first participated in the Higher Education Division 3 football and hurling leagues, the W.I.T. G.A.A. club is now recognised as one of the most successful in the Higher Education sector. During this period, the club has won 117 competitions, including nine Fitzgibbon Cups and eight Ashbourne Cups. The Gathering will be a fitting event to recognise the sterling efforts and dedication of our members who over the past 35 years have played their part in bringing the W.I.T. club to the summit of Higher Education G.A.A. The W.I.T. G.A.A. Gathering organising committee is in the process of collecting the relevant contact details of its members since 1982, and your assistance with this process would be very much appreciated. If you have played or been involved in any way with the G.A.A. club, please provide the organising committee with your contact details by mailing the club at gaa@wit.ie. Also, if you know of any other past players’ contact details, please include them with your details or alternatively update them on the event. Friday, February 24, will be a very special night in the history of W.I.T. G.A.A. club, and the organisers look forward to the Gathering of our members from home and abroad at this event. Ongoing updates on the Gathering will be available at www.witgaa.ie.
