Levingston on the way to La Manga

-

OREY LAD Conor Levingston has been chosen on the Republic of Ireland Under-19 international soccer squad for a tournament in La Manga which starts later this week. The boys in green will play Norway on Friday, Portugal on Sunday and Slovakia on Tuesday, with all games in Murcia at 12 noon Irish time.

Talented midfielder Levingston is still plying his trade with Wolverhampton Wanderers, and no doubt there is a great buzz around the midlands club after their 2-1 FA Cup win over Liverpool in Anfield on Saturday week.

Meanwhile, Enniscorthy’s Festy Ebosele, now on the books of Villa F.C. in Waterford, came on in the 65th minute for the Republic of Ireland Under-15 side in their 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in Ermelo on Thursday.

And he caused immediate problems, as the hosts had a player sent-off for a foul on the new arrival with nine minutes left.

In other soccer news, Ethan Boyle from Wexford town, the Finn Harps defender, has been named on the home-based Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad by head coach Noel King for a training game against the Ireland amateur international side in Dublin’s A.U.L. complex on Saturday, February 11.

Another familiar face selected is goalkeeper Matthew Connor, who moved from Wexford Youths to Cork City during last season and will be seen in the blue of Waterford F.C. in 2017.
