Business Achievement Award for student
A Bunclody student has been awarded a gold medal in the national Business Achievement Awards for her outstanding result in the Junior Certificate.
FCJ secondary school student Niamh Francis O’Dowd took first place in the country for her Junior Cert business studies exam.
Niamh received her award at the Business Studies Teachers’ Association of Ireland, the event hosted by Banking & Payment Federation at their offices in Nassau Street, Dublin.
The awards recognise the top scoring students nationally in accounting, economics and business at Junior and Leaving Cert level.
Niamh’s teacher, Maria Kennedy and school principal Frances Threadgold were also recognised for her outstanding achievement. A ten week start your own business course is being run in New Ross, beginning on Wednesday, February 15.
The course - which costs €120 to attend or €60 if you are unemployed - is aimed at anyone who is thinking of starting their own business or who has recently started a business.
The course will enable participants to develop the skills and knowledge to start up their own business.
The contents of the course are: Introduction, Business planning, Market research, Book-Keeping, Taxation, Financial Management, Legal and insurance, Marketing, Sales and Sources of finance.
The course is being run by tutor Kilian Duignan and includes, as an optional, a one mentor visit. For more information on Mr Duignan, see: www.managementresources.ie
The cost of this course is €60 if you are unemployed. This fee can be paid by contacting this office. The course takes place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night at the Brandon House Hotel in New Ross and would be ideal for anyone considering getting into business.
