Teenager still barred from three pubs in local village

-

CONOR HOGAN (19) of 20 Castle Court in Taghmon has been told that he may visit Wexford Town, from which he was excluded as a condition of bail for the past year.

But he remains barred by the District Court from three pubs in his home town of Taghmon – Fat Boyz, Alice Brady’s and Micko’s.

Hogan attended the courthouse at Ardcavan with his mother, where pleas of guilty were lodged on his behalf by solicitor Tim Cummings to a series of charges.

Offences included a burglary at Kilmacoe, Curracloe, public drunkenness and his involvement in the theft of €500 worth of spirits from the bar in White’s Hotel.

On one occasion, he was discovered at North Main Street in a drunken state, so incoherent that gardaí were only able to identify him when his passport was produced.

He was also picked out on CCTV as one of the culprits who assaulted and robbed a man called Michael Rushoki at Roman Lane in Wexford in April of 2015.

Mr Cummings reported to the District Court that his client was a fine fellow without alcohol but that his behaviour was unacceptable when he had drink taken.

Judge John Cheatle prescribed 200 hours of community service in lieu of four month prison for the assault.

The defendant was also fined €200 and he raised no objection as he was told that he must continue to stay out of the three pubs and put under supervision of probation staff.
