-

SEVEN young members from New Ross Swimming Club have been selected onto the Leinster squad for two upcoming national events. Sadhbh Bailey, her brother Evan and fellow New Ross Club swimmer, Abi Cullen, will travel to Bangor to compete in the Ulster Age Group Championships on April 21 and April 22. They will travel as a part of a 28 man team to the competition under the Team Leinster Banner and New Ross Swimming Club wish all three the very best of luck in their endeavours. Meanwhile, three New Ross schools will be represented at the National Interprovincial Championships being held in the NAC in Dublin on April 29. Min Allen, a First Year student with Our Lady of Lourdes and Caoimhe Daly, a First Year student at St Mary’s school will compete as part of the Leinster junior girls Leinster team. Denis Kilbride, a Junior Cert student at the CBS and Jack Nolan Whitney (Meanscoil Gharman) who are also sitting the Junior Certificate this year will compete at intermediate level with the team. Outside of Dublin, New Ross has gained the greatest representation on these Leinster squads, largely due to the excellent coaching skills of Fran Ronan, and the dedication of the parents. The club’s swimmers have won medals at several competitions recently. A club spokesperson said: ‘We wish all seven swimmers the best of luck as they represent the club, the area and the province at these national events.’
