AMANDA’S ART SPRINGS TO LIFE

A ONE-WOMAN show entitled ‘The Devine Feminine’ by the Gorey artist Amanda Doran opened in the Amber Springs Hotel in a celebratio­n of Internatio­nal Women’s Day.

The 30-year old artist’s work deals with sub-cultures and the ‘outcasts’ or social rejects of society, including the idols,traditions and lifestyles of more colourful social groups.She is mainly interested in painting but also does smaller scale drawings, collages and embrodieri­es.

Amanda obtained a BA in fine art painting from the National College of Art and Design, graduating in 2012 with a first class honours degree. After graduating she was shortliste­d for the Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4’s New Sensations Award showcasing new talent from the UK and Ireland and has exhibited her work globally. She was shortliste­d for the 2016 Marmite Prize for painting.
