Community show their businesses
A total of 55 groups participated in the Bank of Ireland Local Enterprise Town in the Taghmon Community Hall last week.
The event was an opportunity for the locals to showcase their business but also an opportunity for the community to socialise and integrate.
‘ This was a totally free event to attend and also free to exhibit. From a Bank of Ireland perspective I wanted to relay the message to the local community that Bank of Ireland are established in Taghmon for many years and are here to continue to support the local community,’ said Bank of Ireland Taghmon Manager Brian Cantwell.
Both Tom Banville and Michael Sheehan from the respective Local Enterprise Offices spoke and there was attendance by local elected officials including Michael Whelan, Michael Sheehan, Willie Fitzharris from New Ross and Tony Dempsey from Barntown.
Alan Corcoran from South East Radio was MC and he hosted a discussion group which was made up of Davy Fitzgerald, Wexford Hurling Manager, Tom Dempsey and Larry Murphy from the All-Ireland 1996 winning team and Jason Ryan former Wexford Football Manager.
‘ This discussion group entertained the audience but they also mingled with the community after it which was very popular and appreciated by the local community.
‘ The feedback about the event was terrific and we are already looking forward to the next Enterprise town event,’ said Mr Cantwell.
