Last weekend our intermediate footballers went under by a four point margin away to Horewood seniors on a final score of 0-10 to 0-6 while the junior football team finished level with home team Clongeen on a score of 1-9 to 2-6.

The local intermediate hurling team made their first competitive appearance of 2017 a successful event when they defeated neighbours Rathgarogue-Cushinstown in their all county league game played under the lights in Balllinaboola last Thursday night week. They ended up deserving winners on a final score of 2-12 to 0-16 following a hard fought game. The second hurling team were not so lucky as despite putting in a good effort they went under to Cloughbawn at Castleboro last Sunday week on a final score of 2-15 to 1-10.

The first football team had their opening league game of the season when they played St Anne’s senior team in Newbawn recently. The locals were in front for most of the game but faded badly inside the final quarter and were beaten in the end on a score of 1-13 to 1-8. League games continues this week-end. BEREAVEMENTS

The passing of three neighbouring ladies in their early eighties caused much regret over a wide area during the past week. Mary Foxe (née Dunne) Horetown, Foulkesmills, died last Saturday week, while her close neighbour May Murphy (née O’Sullivan) died last Tuesday, and the third lady, Mary Ryan, O’Rourkes Cross passed away at the week-end.

All three were very popular and well known member of the local Little Cullenstown community over a long number of years and will be sorely missed. All three ladies were pre-deceased by their husbands, Ted, Bartley and Tom respectively. Sympathy is extended to the sons and daughters, grandchildren, and all other relatives and friends of the deceased. The burial of all three took place in the new cemetery Clongeen following requiem mass in Little Cullenstown church. May they rest in peace.
