CARDS

The weekly ‘30’ card game continues in the Community Centre this Friday, March 24, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday, March 24, will be: Angela Dooley, Elizabeth Doyle and Maria Carty; on Friday the 31st will be: Catherine Moore, Kathleen O’Connor, Nancy Walsh and Tina Whelan; on Friday, April 7, will be: Liz Furlong, Ellie Walsh and Stella Delaney. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.

Card winners on Friday, March 10, were Terry McDonald, Pat Byrne, John Hanley, Mick Hanlon, Kathleen Whelan, Ann Lawlor, John Furlong, Jim Wickham, Séamus Wickham and Paddy Furlong. All the card players extend their good wishes to Kay for a speedy recovery.

The next draw in the National School parents’ associatio­n splitthe-pot draw takes place this Tuesday, March 21. Envelopes available in Adamstown Pharmacy, Cullen’s Pub, Brad Og’s Pub and Chipper and in the school. Entry €2. Your support is very much appreciate­d.

MASS ON RADIO

Mass on Sunday, March 26, will be at 10 a.m. in Coláiste Abbain and will be broadcast on South East Radio.

SYMPATHY

Our condolence­s to Patricia Sinnott and family Woodview Drive on the death of her brother Joe who died suddenly on Sunday, March 12, Joe was born in Galbally and spent many years in the Irish Army. He will be remembered as the driver on Leo Booths school bus and also a taxi driver. He will be remembered as a friendly man who made friends everywhere he went. Sympathy also to Joe’s extended family, his relations, friends and neighbours. A large crowd attended Joe’s funeral Mass in Galbally Church on Wednesday, March 15. There was a Guard of Honour from the Irish Army which Joe served as a Sergeant for many years. Joe was laid to rest in Galbally Cemetery. May his kind soul rest in peace.

Our condolence­s to the Barden family Adamstown on the death of their Aunt Kathleen Barden, Rathronan, Bridgetown in her 101st year. Wife of the late Paul, mother of Lucy, Tony and Teresa. Sympathy also to her extended family, friends and relations. Mass was celebrated in St David’s Church Mulrankin, Bridgetown, burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery Kilmore. May she rest in peace,

SHAMROCK VINTAGE CLUB

A reminder that the Pat Byrne memorial road run is on Sunday, April 2. Registrati­on from 12 and run commences at 1 p.m. from the hall car park and will return to Coláiste Abbain for a hot meal and entertainm­ent. All vehicles with valid insurance are welcome. All donations are greatly appreciate­d including any donations for spot prizes would be greatly appreciate­d. This year’s run is in aid of the drama department in Coláiste Abbain.

SHOW SOCIETY AGM

The annual general meeting of Adamstown Show will be held in the Community Centre this Thursday, March 23, at 8 p.m. This is a very important meeting for everyone to attend.

This year’s show is planned for Saturday, July 1, and will be the 70th show. Very big changes have taken place over those 70 years. The show committee need new people and hope to have a good attendance at their AGM. Please attend and support your local show.

GAA DISCO

Adamstown GAA are hosting a disco for first, second and third years in Adamstown Community Centre on Easter Monday night, April 17, from 8.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. Music from DJ Dave, Admission €8, Strictly no alcohol and well supervised.
