2 SING FOR FUN: Running from Tuesday. April 25 for six weeks every Tuesday until May 30. In association with Belcanto Vocal Workshops, The National Opera House is delighted to present Sing for Fun, a dynamic workshop specifically designed to help you discover your singing voice. The main aim of the workshop is to enhance people’s vocal ability and confidence but also to allow them to relax and de stress from their everyday lives. People are not required to have experience in singing or music but just passion and enthusiasm, assisted by a little bit of help and encouragement. The fee is €55. 3 KEVIN LAWLOR TRIO: Kevin Lawlor, plus guests, will perform in the Wexford Arts Centre Sunday, April 30, at 3 p.m. To celebrate International Jazz Day drummer and composer Kevin Lawlor presents a mix of original jazz compositions and some arrangements of jazz standards. Kevin, who lives and works in Wexford, is the Director of Jazz and a drum tutor at County Wexford School of Music. He has released two albums as a band leader/composer and has performed regularly in Ireland and the UK. The trio will be completed by the addition of well-known double bassist Andrew Csibi and Cork based jazz pianist Phil Collins. Tickets are €10 and are available from the Arts Centre. 4 ENNISCORTHY CHORAL SOCIETY CONCERT: The Enniscorthy Choral Society will perform their ‘Hello Summer!’ concert on April 28 in St Mary’s Church, Church Street, Enniscorthy, at 8 p.m. Tickets are €15 and are available from The Athenaeum, AIB Bank or any choir member – proceeds are in aid of County Wexford Hospice Homecare. There will be a cheese and wine reception at 7 p.m. before the concert begins.
5 Night of Comedy and drama: A great night of entertainment and belly laughs is in store at St Mary’s Hall in Fethard on Sea, this Sunday, April 30, when Camross Drama Group present ‘A Night of Comedy’. The show involves two one act comedies and a sketch performance. It starts at 8 p.m. and admission is €10. Tickets can be bought on the door and there will be a raffle and refreshments on the night. This promises to be a great night out in the seaside village of Fethard on Sea, as the award winning Camross Drama Group – which celebrated 60 years of entertaining in 2015 – and everyone is welcome to come along to St Mary’s Hall.
6 BANK HOLIDAY BARBECUE AT WELLS HOUSE: Celebrate the start of summer with a barbecue and live music this Bank Holiday Sunday, April 30, at Wells House and Gardens. The chef will be serving up the burgers, sausages, and more in the terrace garden behind the house from 1.30 p.m. onwards. Wells House is now a member of the Wexford Food Family, and produce served in the restaurant at Wells is sourced from members of the Wexford Food Family. Visitors will also get to enjoy live music from Michelle Delmar on the afternoon. All of the attractions are running as normal on the day.
7 EDUARDO NIEBLA: Camphill Duffcarrig, Ballymoney, will be having a concert from Spanish guitarist and composer Eduardo Niebla Friday, April 28, at 7 p.m. Guitar virtuoso and composer Eduardo has been acclaimed as one of the most potent forces in flamenco jazz fusion today. Non-profit organisation Camphill Duffcarrig, beside the Orphan Girl, is a life sharing community where adults with an intellectual disability, volunteer carers and their families live and work together. Donations will be accepted on the door towards the cost of the concert and for Camphill Duffcarrig.
