Cushen’s Bar & Lounge
64 YEARS in the Cushen’s name makes Cushen’s Pub in Tagoat one of the longest family run pubs in the South East. Established in the 1953’s by Patrick and Mary Cushen, the premises was passed down to Bernard and Noreen, in the early 80’s and Paddy is now the 3rd generation at the helm.
Paddy served his time as a chef with Kelly’s Resort Hotel for over 15 years and travelled to many parts of the world working with top chefs like Paul Rankin and Paul Flynn gaining valuable experience. Seven years ago, Paddy returned to take over the family business and has now established a steady business with a great menu which is available Tuesday to Sunday from 12 noon daily. The Lounge proves popular for 18th, 21st and all parties and on the third Friday of each month, they host one of the greatest trad music sessions in the South East. (Early arrival is advised) The bar caters for those who would like to enjoy a drink while playing Pool or Darts with a Juke Box packed with all the latest hits. Over the summer call in and enjoy a bite to eat at Cushen’s or keep a lookout on their facebook page for food and live music updates .
Cushen’s are also the local Flo Gas Agent for the area. CHARLES Pierce Men’s Wear was established at 21, South Main Street, Wexford in 1961, and traded as The Man’s Shop for many years. NOW managed by the second generation of the family to enter the retail trade, Nigel and Mary Pierce have expanded into women’s fashion and footwear, next door in charly’s company, whilst one of the original founders, Blanche Pierce, is still active in the business.
Today, Charles Pierce Menswear is spread over two levels; casual wear on the ground floor, with an excellent separate shoe area, and suits and formal-wear upstairs, in a beautiful naturally lit department.
