Calendar raises €6,300 for Community Hospital
A CHEQUE for over €6,300 has been handed over to New Ross Community Hospital from the sale of the extremely successful wildlife fundraising calendar launched in late 2016.
The calendar, which featured stunning local photography by renowned wildlife photographer Edno Delaney, was created in association with his brother, photographer Paddy Delaney and Elaine Boland. It raised more than €6,360 towards the hospital’s ongoing fundraising appeal. The 2017 calendar was the third such calendar to be produced by the trio in aid of the community hospital raising over €28,000 to date.
This year’s calendar received invaluable and very generous support through sponsorship by feature sponsor People Newspapers, as well as National Vehicle Distribution, Wexford Volkswagen, Wexford County Council, Cllr. Michael Sheehan, Furlong Gallops, James Ryan Undertakers, New Ross Municipal District Council, Affidea Ireland, Kilbride Coaches, Molloy Metal Recycling Ltd, Northgate Medical Centre and Mowlam Health Care.
Elaine said: ‘ The success of this year’s calendar would not have been possible without extremely generous sponsorship for which we are most grateful.’
She thanked all the stores who generously sold hundreds of copies of this publication, as well as everyone who purchased a calendar this year.
Funds raised through this calendar will go towards a major fundraising appeal currently under way following a €1.3 million redevelopment and upgrading of New Ross Community Hospital (NRCH).
NRCH is a registered charity run by a voluntary Board of Directors; ‘For the People – By the People’. It provides long and short term care to 37 residents from New Ross and District at reduced rates per week, making it easier for people to access the care they need in their own community where no resident is denied help due to their own financial constraints.
Director of Nursing at New Ross Community Hospital Laura Collins said: ‘We are so grateful for all involved in producing and selling this calendar as well as to everyone who bought a copy. It was a beautiful publication and the benefits from its sale will be seen throughout the hospital.’
