Arboretum walk for mini bus for St Louis Day Care Centre

- BY DAVID LOOBY

ST LOUIS DAY CARE CENTRE in Ramsgrange is holding a 5km/10km walk or run in John F. Kennedy Memorial Park & Arboretum on Monday, June 5, at 10.30 am.

The centre’s management needs to raise funds to replace the centre’s current mini bus which has served the area so well.

St Louis Day Care Centre Manager Laura Rowe said: ‘ The mileage is very high on the bus as are the running costs. Our bus is essential to provide transport to and from the centre for our clients who are unable to drive, and is used to deliver Meals on Wheels daily.’

The centre’s catchment area covers South West Wexford taking in the parishes of Ramsgrange, Duncannon, Horeswood, Templetown and Tinern.

‘We have received once off funding from the HSE towards the cost of replacing the mini bus, but there is a significant shortfall of €10,000 which we will endeavour to raise by way of fundraising and with the generosity of the people in our local community. We would greatly welcome your support on the day.’

The registration cost for the walk and run is €10 and children under 16 can participate for free.

You can register to walk/run directly with St Louis Day Care Centre or go online to the website Go Fund Me at www.gofundme.com/Senior- CitizensConcern.

When registering to walk or run participants are asked to please indicate on the GoFundMe website in the ‘Leave a Comment’ section if you wish to do the 5km walk or run or the 10km walk or run.

Captain of the Wexford hurling team Matthew O’Hanlon is supporting the fundraiser and will be in attendance in John F. Kennedy Memorial Park & Arboretum on the bank holiday Monday to start the walk.
