WEXFORD Community Services Council was set up in 1971 in order to coordinate a range of Community Services and to provide facilities to meet the needs of these services, operating under one ‘umbrella’ group. The Council manages the day to day running of St. Bridget’s Community Centre which is home to these affiliated groups. Over the years the range of services and activities at the Centre has increased. Services include:

ST. BRIDGET’S DAY CARE CENTRE

This is a Day Care Centre providing care for older people where all are welcome. Care includes:

Nursing Care (Qualified Nurse on-site, Physiother­apy) Chiropody (arranged by Day Care Staff ) Personal Care (Showering, Hairdressi­ng, Nail-care)

Social Activities (Arts/Crafts, Cognitive exercises, Men’s Shed, Physical exercises, Music, Bingo, Quizzes, Outings, Library) Spiritual Care Meals and refreshmen­ts Bus service Providing respite to Carers and their families For more informatio­n please telephone (053) 9140870.

ST. BRIGID’S COMMUNITY PLAYGROUP

St. Brigid’s Community Playgroup provides a warm, caring and stimulatin­g environmen­t for children, supported by knowledgea­ble and observant staff who provide a high quality of care for the children at all times. They also support and encourage family involvemen­t within the Playgroup. The Playgroup is for children aged from 2yrs 6mths - 5yrs, Monday to Friday. There is also an Afterschoo­l Programme for children aged from 5yrs - 10yrs. St. Brigid’s Community Playgroup is a member of Early Childhood Ireland. Tel.: (053) 9146624.

MEALS ON WHEELS

Meals on Wheels, founded in 1971, delivers meals to older people, to the sick and to the housebound in our community in the Wexford town area. They provide hot and cold freshly made nourishing meals. St. Bridget’s Community Centre provides support, medical care, friendship and compassion to the members of our Community who need a helping hand…. because some day we all will.
