EDUCATION CENTRE’S OPEN DAY
THE Adult Education and Training Centre in New Ross is holding an open day this morning, (Tuesday, May 30), at Butlersland.
The morning will be informal and friendly, and there will be refreshments available. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. visitors will have an opportunity to discuss the courses with the tutors who will advise on the various levels suitable to individuals wishing to build their skills.
The Adult Education centre offers a wide range of courses at levels 3, 4 and 5 and at introductory levels, which will be on offer in the centre from September. The courses will be full time and part time. Full time course available in September through VTOS will include; Culinary Skills Level 4, Office Skills Level 4 and Retail Skills Level 4. Part-time courses available through the Back to Education Initiative from September will include; Healthcare Level 5, Applied Social Studies Level 5, Hotel Front Office Skills Level 4, Reception and IT Skills Level 4, Private Security Level 4.
Courses will also be available at Level 3 and will include Introduction to Hair and Beauty and Woodwork.
The mission of the Adult Education and Training Centre is to offer the right course at the right level at the right time for learners. The Adult Educational Guidance Service will offer information on career choice and information and how to access the correct course for your career plan. The Adult Literacy Service will offer a free skills check to give people the ideal starting point to begin studies. An Adult Education and Training Centre spokesperson said: ‘We offer learning on a one to one basis. You can check your skills level and get started on developing your skills in reading, writing and computers at your own pace.’
