On behalf of all parishione­rs we extend our congratula­tions and best wishes to Fr Nolan on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee. The Parish Committee wish to express their sincere thanks to all those who made Fr Nolan’s Golden Jubilee celebratio­ns such a wonderful occasion for our parish on Friday, May 26.

Thanks to Bishop Denis, all the clergy who attended, Fr Nolan’s family, invited guests and parishione­rs joined by people from far and wide who filled St Abban’s Church to capacity for Mass on Friday night. Thanks to the following: both choirs for their beautiful hymns, the ushers, car-parking committee, those who prepared the church so beautifull­y and printing of the lovely booklet.

Thanks also to the ladies and gentlemen who prepared St Abban’s Hall both on Thursday night and also Friday, and for the lovely floral arrangemen­ts, the hall looked splendid. A massive thank you for your overwhelmi­ng generosity for the lovely sandwiches and confection­ery donated, it exceeded all our expectatio­ns.

Thanks to the ladies who worked so hard all night to make sure everyone was catered for and keeping the ‘tea pots’ full at all times. Thanks also for the use of the cups, saucers etc, and last by no means least to St Abban’s Hall Committee for the use of the facility.

It probably brought back many memories to lots of people there. It was a unique and special occasion for our parish and we can be really proud of working together to achieve such a memorable night. On behalf of every parishione­r we pray God’s blessing on Fr Nolan to grant him many more years of health and happiness in his ministry. TEA DAY THANK YOU

Ellie Walsh and family, Tomgarrow wish to thank most sincerely all those who attended or gave donations to the family for their ‘Tea Day’ recently. The amount raised was €500 all of which will go the Alzheimer’s services in County Wexford. GAA NOTES

A lot of work is taking place in the club to ensure we have a successful weekend when we host Féile on June 16, 17 and 18. We will be hosting St Molleran’s Carrick on Suir, Co Waterford. Two hurling matches will be played in Cloughbawn on the Friday evening. The first match is at 5 p.m. Our match against our visitors will be played in Adamstown on Saturday morning.

PARISH ACTIVITIES

A meeting of Newbawn parish council will take place in the parochial house at 9 p.m. on this Thursday night, June 8. All committee members are requested to attend.

Congratula­tions to the 18 children from Newbawn and the 16 children from Raheen, who recently celebrated their first holy communion.

The annual field day in aid of parochial funds will take place in the Community Sports Ground on July 9 (second Sunday) and assistance in successful­ly running the event will be required from as, amy people as possible. Names should be submitted as soon as possible to Fr Moynihan or any other member of the parish council.

Feast days coming up in the coming week include St Ephrem of Syria on Saturday, June 10, The Holy Trinity on Sunday, June 11, and St Anthony of Padua on Tuesday, June 13. The nine days of Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus takes place from June 15 to June 23.

The next 50/50 draw in aid of Newbawn parish funding will take place in the church at the end of June. A few singles tickets for the confined draw are still available at €5 from parish council members. The winner receives €500. COMMUNITY HEART

The official launch of Raheen Family Resource Centre Community Heart Project will take place on this Saturday afternoon, June 10, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This will be a free day out for the entire family, with bouncy castles, line dancing, modern dancing, martial arts demonstrat­ion, face painting, games, refreshmen­ts and many more attraction­s. All age groups are very welcome to come along and enjoy the fun. DUNGARVAN ROAD RUN

The Forge Vintage Club based in the Foulkesmil­ls-Clongeen area are planning a major road run which will take place over Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25. They start off from Clongeen on the Saturday and return to Foulkesmil­ls on the Sunday. Proceeds from the event will go to Hospice Homecare and to other local charities.

Sponsor cards are in circulatio­n at present and anyone who donates will be entered in a draw with prizes including €200 cash donated by Crosbie Trans car, a power washer sponsored by Mythen Constructi­on, dinner for two sponsored by the Horse and Hound Ballinaboo­la, and Sunday lunch for two sponsored by Whitford House. Raheen Family Resource Centre in conjunctio­n with Irish Heart intend running Free Martial Arts summer Camps in Adamstown Community Centre during July. The camps will consist of learning all aspects of martial arts in a fun and safe environmen­t. The participan­ts will learn self-defence, self-awareness, boxercise and lots more. There will be lots of fun and games which will promote team building and confidence. The camp will be delivered by John Philips, who has a fourth Degree Black Belt.

The camps will run from July 17 to July 19 from10 a.m. to midday daily for eight- to 12-yearolds and July 24 to July 26 for 13- to 16-year-olds. For further informatio­n or to book a place contact Bridget at 051 428805. SUMMER CAMPS

Summer camps will take place in Raheen Family Resource Centre on the following dates this year: July 10 to July 14 for 10-to 12-year-olds, July 17 to July 21 for seven- to nine-year-olds, and July 24 to July 28 for four- to sixyear-olds. We will have a wide variety of activities including arts and crafts, games, pottery, macramé, collage and much more. The cost of the camps is €30 per child and family rates apply.

Torn Dreams the Musical: Revamped. is returning to the Rathnure Stage this summer for a six night run. This was the very first original musical written in 2010. Well done to Brian Quigley, who lined out with the Wexford under-21 team last week as they advanced to the Leinster semi-final with a win over Offaly. The Wexford Senior team had an easy win over Laois last week and now face Kilkenny on Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m. in Innovate Wexford Park. Clubman Jack Guiney made his mark when he came on in the second-half setting up a goal before striking the back of the net himself. Best of luck to Jack and the team against Kilkenny.
