GAA CLUB NOTES

The junior hurlers beat Taghmon-Camross 1-11 to 0-6 in very wet and windy conditions in Horeswood last week and are now at home to Fethard in the semi-final on Friday, June 16, at 8 p.m.

Horeswood had five winners in May’s Club/County Draw. Paddy Banville won a Joyces Expert €500 voucher, Daniel Wallace a Wexford GAA Season ticket and Declan/June O’Hanlon, Liam Caulfield and Brian/Sandra Molloy €150 each.

Last Mondays lotto numbers were 4, 17, 19 and 24. Match winners – Ann Toomey Aoife, Cahill and Bebo Keating. Next draw is on June 12, jackpot €4,800.

COISTE NA NÓG

The under-12 hurlers had an easy win away to Clonard last week. The under-14 hurlers got off to a good start away to Monageer last Thursday in very windy conditions but the stronger home side dominated the rest of the first half to build up a big lead. Despite playing with the wind in the second half Horeswood found it hard to score and lost 5-19 to 2-9.

Ben Bulben Gaels from Sligo will spend next weekend in the parish for the Féile na nGael under-14 National Hurling competitio­n. On Friday the 14th Horeswood will play Our Lady’s Is/St Fintan’s and Michael Dwyers from Wicklow in Horeswood at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. On Sat. morning they will play Ben Bulben Gaels in Horeswood at 11 a.m. and then travel to Bagenalsto­wn for the next round. Fixtures: Tuesday the 20th under-12 Hurling in Cushinstow­n at 7.30. Thursday the 22nd under-14 Football in Gusserane at 7.30.

GAA CÚL CAMPS

There will be two Cúl Camps in Horeswood again this year. The first is from July 17 to July 21 and the second from August 14 to August 18. The cost is €60 for the first child, €50 for the second and €40 for the third. A jersey, Training top and backpack are included in the price. ORDINATION

Congratula­tions to Billy Caulfield, Ballykerog­ue on his ordination by Bishop Denis Brennan in Horeswood Church last Sunday. He was joined by over 40 fellow priests, including Fr Shem Furlong, who was ordained in Horeswood in 1985, and some seminarian­s from Maynooth College.

Horeswood and Ballykelly choirs, conducted by Fr Tomas Kehoe, New Ross, and organist Kevin Kennedy, sang many beautiful hymns. Fr Caulfield celebrated his first mass in Horeswood last Monday and is wished every success ion his new ministry.

SOCIAL DANCING

Join us in St Mary’s Hall, Fethard-on-Sea for dancing with ‘Blue Lace’ Friday, June 16, from 9.30 p.m. Admission is €8 with refreshmen­ts served. Proceeds towards the upkeep of the hall.

CAMPILE BINGO

There is a weekly game of bingo being held in Campile Hall every Monday Night at 8.30 p.m. in aid of the ongoing developmen­t of the hall, with prize money of €1,250 approx being paid out each Night with a rolling in house lotto and Snowball also being played each Night.

We welcome each and everyone senior citizens, young and children alike to try it and enjoy a great night night out and win some some money into the bargain.

KNOCK PILGRIMAGE
