ROSEBUDS CRAFT A MAGICAL MOSAIC
THIRTEEN talented rosebuds from Clongeen recently completed a QQI Level 3 Mosaic course and celebrated with an official unveiling.
The Clongeen Rosebuds ladies group started two years ago with the aim of combatting social isolation in their area. They meet weekly, have days out, have guest speakers in and organise charity events for the local community. Last November they contact WWETB ( Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board)’s BTEI (Back to Education Imitative) Programme and undertook the Mosaic QQI accredited course, creating individual pieces and one large group piece which is now situated in the Clongeen Parish Hall.
This piece represents the aim of the group, which is to meet new friends, have strength and belief in themselves and have fun. At the celebration they displayed their beautiful individual pieces and the group piece was unveiled by Fr Colm Murphy (Parish Priest), Trish Murphy (Tutor), Jean Rawson ( WWETB) and Michelle Togher Cullen (Learner). The consensus of the group on the morning was that this course had been of huge benefit to them personally and practically and some of the participants had even sold some of their pieces. They are also going undertake further modules with WWETB’s BTEI programme in September. The BTEI programme’s target is those who have not completed a leaving cert or are on a social welfare payment.
