FUNDRAISER FOR RORY A fundraisin­g festival will be held in aid of the Rory Whelan Fund in Vine Cottage, Saltmills on Sunday, June 25, It will be a completely family friendly day with Skittles Tournament starting at 2 p.m. There will be a barbecue with large obstacle Bouncing Castle, Face Painting and Balloon Modelling. Live Music starts at 4.30 p.m. with Mark Monaghan, Seamie Kehoe, Steven Cullen, The Rogues, Don’t Fret and special guests.

A monster raffle will be held with fantastic prizes. Raffle tickets are available to buy now in Vine Cottage for those unable to make it on the day. Everything has been donated and all musicians are kindly giving up time to support this worthy cause. Your support is much needed and greatly appreciate­d to help Rory and his family cope during this extremely difficult time. LOTTO

The results of last week’s Tintern lotto draw saw the numbers 2, 4, 5 and 17 come out of the drum. While there was no jackpot winner, congratula­tions to Pearl Clarke of Battlestow­n and Dylan Larkin of Ballyculla­ne on matching three numbers and winning €200 each. This week’s jackpot stands at €2,750. CARDS

Winners in the hall in Gusserane last week were Luke Power, Brendan Colfer and Billy Shannon. Luke Power’s victory comes hot on the heels of his Captain’s Cup win in New Ross Golf Club recently so a special word of congratula­tions to Luke. Second went to Karl Hall, Johnny Cogley and James Larkin. In third place were Pat Murray, Peter Stafford and Johnny Colfer while fourth went to Dave Murphy, James McDonald and Pat Whelan.

The last game draw winners were Johnny Larkin and PJ Doyle while the raffle winners were Willie Kehoe, Jimmy.

HYPNOTIST Gusserane GAA Club are hosting a night of Comedy, Hypnosis and Mentalism with the acclaimed psychologi­st, Jason O’Callaghan in the Tintern Complex in Ballyculla­ne on Friday, June 30, at 8.30 p.m. Admission is only €10 and tickets are on sale from club officers. On Saturday, June 24, the graveyard at Nash will be blessed at 6 p.m. This will be followed at 7 p.m. by a visit to Gusserane Cemetery where outdoor mass will take place, weather permitting. The patron this year falls on the actual feast day of St John the Baptist, after whom the church in Gusserane is dedicated. GAA NEWS

Well done to the Gusserane hurlers who defeated Rathgarogu­e-Cushinstow­n last Friday night to reach the final of the Ross Disctrict Foxe Cup. They will now play Fethard in the decider.

The coming weeks will see the junior and senior footballer­s compete in their respective league finals. The juniors take on Marshalsto­wn this coming Sunday in Bree while the seniors will play Castletown in Enniscorth­y on Friday the 30the June.

Finally, a special mention to the under-14 hurlers that competed in the Féile last weekend. Gusserane were joined with Fethard and competed admirably in the national competitio­n.
