3 nights of Tennessee

-

Raven Theatre will present their production of ‘Three By Tenn: An Evening of Tennessee Williams at Wexford Arts Centre on June, 22, 23 and 24.

The show will feature three of Williams’ short plays written in his youth, ‘Summer at the Lake’, ‘Talk to me like the rain and let me listen’ and ‘The Lady of Larkspur Lotion’.

All three plays are directed by Anna Hayes, assisted by Jessica Walker. They feature themes and characters that wouldcome to define his later works such as ‘The Glass Menagerie’, ‘Cat On A Hot Tin Roof’ and ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’.

One of Williams’ most quoted phrases is ‘A prayer for the wild at heart kept in cages’ and it’s a theme that permeates through much of his work - characters confined by various constraints, be they societal, political or personal.

In ‘Summer at the Lake’, a young dreamer yearns for escape from his dull existence and the love of an overbearing mother. The cast includes Kate O’Donnell, Cillian Tobin and Lucinda Kelly.

In ‘Talk to Me like the Rain and Let Me Listen’ which features Richie O’Donnell and Teresa Boyle, a desperate couple seek solace in each other despite the void that exists between them.

In ‘The Lady of Larkspur Lotion’, a tenant and her landlady square up over the living conditions of a New Orleans boarding house. The cast comprises Mary O’Connor, Áine Gannon and Stephen Rooney.

Tickets are available from Wexford Arts Centre on 053 91 23764 or from www.wexfordartscentre.ie.
