Wexford boss graduates from course

-

A Wexford business owner was one of 16 graduates in the Ireland Smart Ageing Exchange (ISAX) Ingenuity Accelerator Programme, run by DCU Ryan Academy and sponsored by Bank of Ireland.

Mary O’Connor, of the Gorey-based The Wood Turning Studio took part in the nineweek programme which saw mature business owners from around the country take part in the specialist course.

The finale graduation event took place in the DCU Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurship in Citywest and the event was a great success showcasing some of Ireland’s most innovative businesses. As a graduate of the programme, Mary will now put the skills and knowledge he has learned into elevating his stone masonry company to the next level.

The Ireland Smart Ageing Exchange (ISAX) Ingenuity’ accelerator programme, run in conjunction with DCU Ryan Academy, was targeted at mature business owners aged 50+ their businesses and designed specifically to address the challenges facing business owners who were seeking to scale-up. The programme ran one day a week over nine weeks and included workshops, bespoke mentoring and excellent networking opportunities.

Anne Connolly, Chief Executive, ISAX said: ‘ There is a growing population of healthy mature people with the skills, financial resources and time available to contribute to economic activity, whilst also providing social benefits. Older entrepreneurs generally possess more developed networks, industry experience and stronger financial security compared with their younger counterparts.’

Whether you have always harboured the desire to strike out on your own, previously flirted with the idea, or are beginning to think entrepreneurism could be for you, ISAX would like to hear from you. Courses will run in Cork and Limerick in September and ISAX is now accepting applications for the programme.

Applications can be made on-line at: http://info.isax.ie/ application-for-ingenuity or by calling 061 317578.
