Over 6,000 kids to take part in GAA Cúl Camps
IT IS that time of year again for the Wexford GAA Kelloggs Cúl Camps, where more than 6,000 children are expected to take part across 50 venues in the county.
Last year more than 5,000 kids took part after an additional 12 camps were added to clubs such as St James, Cloughbawn and Marshalstown, which was their first time hosting the event.
Crossabeg/Ballymurn and Kilrush Askamore have been added to the list of venues for the first time this year, with many of the other places hosting a second camp during the summer to accommodate the growing demand for places.
Activities will include football, hurling, camogie, rounders, handball, some fun games and a skills competition, where the winners will be treated to a special day out in Wexford Park.
County hurler Damien Reck from Oylegate will be giving a helping hand and will attend some of the camps to help coach the children, while Lee Chin and Conor McDonald will make surprise appearances to some of the venues.
The five-day camps will run from July 3 until August 18 and each day will start at 10 a.m. and end at 2.30 p.m. Each child who registers for Cúl Camps will receive a half-zip top, a T-shirt and a GAA gear backpack to take home with them.
The cost is €60 per child, with a discount available if you book in a second or third kid from the same family.
All children are urged to bring a packed lunch, plenty of water, hurl, helmet, mouthguard, suitable sports gear, rain gear, sun cream, baseball hat, towel and a change of clothes for wet days.
