A BROAD CANVAS

-

THE Pigyard Gallery is hosting a compelling new multimedia exhibition for the month of June.

‘Scripted’ brings together the eight members of Harmonics - painters, mixed media and textile artists, a sculptor and a weaver – working to a theme of literature giving them an ample source for ideas and thought.

The resulting display of artwork is stunning and varied with inspiration coming from an extensive sweep of authors and styles: Yeats to Housman, Heaney to the Brothers Grimm, Wilde to the haiku of Kobayashi.

Formed in 2010 the secret of success with the Harmonics Art Group is the bringing together of artists working in distinctive but complimentary ways.

Every exhibition is different and the artists challenge each other to come up with a novel approach, a different way of making art each time. Expect something new and exciting in this show. This intriguing collective of Wexford-based artists - Ann Duggan, Terry Dunne, Christine Mooney, Tess Reynolds, Patricia Robinson, Phil Stewart, Gilly Thomas and Mary Wallace – meet together in each other’s houses once a month to explore concepts for new work.

Ideas are teased out over good coffee, real tea and homebaking. Recipes are exchanged as readily as thoughts and opinions on the contemporary art scene, nationally and internationally.
