€23,608 Pieta walk donation
A CHEQUE for €23,608 - the proceeds from the hugely successful Darkness into Light walk in New Ross in May - was presented to a Pieta House representative last week.
When the idea to have New Ross’s first Darkness into Light walk for Pieta house was initially considered, it was envisaged that there would be 30 or 40 people walking and a few hundred euro would be raised. However, the massive amount of €23608.26 was raised. One of the organisers Ger Tobin said: ‘It is a testament to the committee who worked so hard to organise the event, the sponsors who provided the venue and refreshments, the volunteers on the day and of course those who took part and fundraised. The money will go in full to Pieta House to provide many hours of counselling to those who need it.’
