Airline toldnot tosell tickets

-

PLANS by a new airline to operate three services a week to the UK from Waterford Regional Airport have suffered a setback because the Commission for Aviation Regulation says Aer Southeast did not secure the required tour operator licence for services.

The airline, which has been told to stop selling tickets, is assuring anyone who purchased them that their money is secure. It said significant progress had been made in resolving the issue and everything was being done to begin its scheduled flights as already announced.

The airport halted commercial traffic in June last year after Belgian airline VLM Airlines – which operated 12 weekly flights to London Luton – filed for bankruptcy. Now Waterford Airport has now announced the resumption of scheduled services to no less than three British cities, beginning on July 24 with an inaugural service to London Luton at 7.15 a.m. Aer Southeast says it will operate six flights a week to London Luton, three flights to Manchester and three flights to Birmingham. It plans to use Saab 340 aircraft based at the airport.
