THE DIVISION 2 Wexford league singles championship was held in Ferns on Tuesday, with Gavin Collier (Doran’s Bridge) beating Jim Sludds Snr. (Monart) 21-17 in the final.

The Michael Furlong Shield Division 1 and William Kinch Cup Division 1 were held in Páirc Mhuire on Saturday 24. There was a poor Division 2 turn-out, with only one team present.

The Division 1 final saw Woodsmen beat Monart 2-0 in games, while in Division 2, Doran’s Bridge ‘B’ qualified for the final automatically.

Division 1 versus Division 2 (with DB getting five aces per game): John Giltrap and Tom Connors (WM) beat Jason Collier and Dean Collier (DB), 21-10; Paddy Connors and Phil Mahon (WM) beat Carol Kehoe and John Kehoe (DB), 21-14.

Rest of Woodsmen team: Michael Redmond, Chris McDonald, Liam Bond.

Rest of Doran’s Bridge ‘B’ team: Myles Collier, Alan Jordan.

Division 1 winners received the William Kinch Cup and prize money, while Division 2 received the Michael Furlong Shield and prize money.

The Wexford league Division 2 doubles and Division 1 singles will be held this Tuesday, June 27, in Ferns at 7 p.m. The Division 2 doubles were postponed last week.

The Wexford league Division 1 doubles will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 7 p.m. in the league field in Ferns.

The All-Ireland singles - Divisions 1 and 2 - will be held this Saturday, July 1, at 1 p.m. in Bunclody. The All-Ireland ringers will be held after this at 3 p.m.
