Thousands expected as Adamstown Show marks its 70th year

Sunday, July 2 Sunday, July 9 THE ADAMSTOWN SHOW is 70 years going strong this July and this year’s show will be the biggest yet, with thousands of people expected to descend on the area this Saturday.

The agricultur­al, horticultu­ral, arts, crafts, trade and vintage show will officially kick off at 10 a.m., when judging will commence on the numerous classes.

The show, taking place on lands kindly donated by the Cullen, Whelan and Redmond families, will feature all the usual horse, pony and sheep classes, as well as show jumping and an inter-hunter chase.

There are also numerous horticultu­re, home cooking, home industries, arts and crafts classes and a plethora of competitio­ns of all interests for children to enter. New to this year’s show is a Best Dressed Lady competitio­n, with €250 in prize money to be won. The prize is sponsored by the Fashion Showhouse of the South East, Noreen O’Donnell’s boutique on Quay Street in New Ross.

There are perpetual cups and trophies to be won for the best exhibitors in all classes.
