40-year-old Darrin was found dead on farm

WEXFORD Coroner’s Court heard the inquest into the death of a Monamolin farmer.

The body of Darrin Doran (40), Monagreena, Monamolin, was found by his father Paddy outside of a milking parlour on Mr Doran’s farm on November 10, 2016.

Garda Darin Sane said he was called to the Doran farm at 4.30 p.m. and saw the body of Mr Doran lying outside the milking parlour with a legally held shotgun at his feet.

Darrin Doran was identified by Yvonne O’Neill of Mayview Park, Oulart, who said Mr Doran was her cousin.

Inspector Sean Clince read the deposition of Paddy Doran into the Coroner’s Court. In it he said that Darrin had come up to the farmhouse at 1 p.m. for his dinner before returning to the farm at 2 p.m. Leaving, he asked his father to come help him that afternoon with dosing a cow.

When he arrived at the farmyard he saw his son’s body and called a neighbour.

Dr Nigam Shah, pathologis­t, said the post mortem on Mr Doran had been performed by Dr Rob Landers who noted Mr Doran suffered catastroph­ic injuries to his head and would have died instantly.

County coroner Dr Sean Nixon recommende­d the jury of six men return a verdict of suicide which the jury agreed with.

Dr Nixon extend sympathy to the Doran family on their very sad and tragic loss.

Inspector Clince also extended sympathy to Mr Doran’s family. He said he had served in Oulart as a garda in the past and knew both Darrin and the Doran family.

Jury foreman Seamus Whelan also extended sympathy to the Doran family on behalf of the jury.
