We had a great Leinster Championships in Tullamore. In total we had 11 athletes competing: Caoimhe Reville, James Hanlon, Joseph Hanlon, Pádraig Hore, Muireann Hore, Orlaith O’Hanlon, Dearbhla O’Hanlon, Bronagh O’Hanlon, Chloe O’‘Toole, Hannah Roche Kelly and Aisling Kelly.

With a total of 11 medals our athletes are certainly achieving great things. Caoimhe took part in her first Leinster competion. Aisling Kelly took home all top honors with a very impressive four Gold medals: First in the Long Jump, 100m sprint and also in the 200m sprint. She also ran the final leg of the Co Wexford under-15 relay team to complete the gold rush, with her club mate Chloe O’Toole, who ran a great leg of the relay.

Joseph and James Hanlon both took podium places in the walks, Joseph took Gold in the under-18, and James was second in the under-16 race. Pádraig Hore took Gold in the under-18 discus adding a new PB of 45.79m, and secured silver in the under-18 shot putt. Bronagh O’Hanlon took gold in the under-17 Hammer. Hannah Roche Kelly was part of the Co Wexford under-17 relay team that finished third.

The very best of luck to our five athletes that have now progressed to the all-Ireland Finals in July.

CAROREIGH NS

As another school year nears the end, we wish the pupils of sixth class farewell and good luck in their new seconrdary schools in September.

A number of pupils recently attended the Primary Schools’ Sports in Bree, well done to Tiernan Ruane, who received a bronze medal in the 100m sprint. Also, recently two pupils received prizes in the Wexford County Council Biodiversity Art Competition. Bobby Kent, Senior Infants – third prize and Róisín Reville, second class – Highly Commended.

On Wednesday last the annual schools sports day was held in glorious sunshine and on that day too, the pupils of Junior Infants helped to raise the school’s fifth flag which was for biodiversity. Well done to all and the Green Schools Committee for their hard work to attain another flag.

Finally, we wish the staff, pupils and their families a lovely summer break.

FEILE NA NGAEL

Taghmon/Camross had the pleasure of hosting St. Fintan’s Mountrath, Co. Laois last weekend for Feile na nGael 2017, we also welcomed a team from Wicklow & Limerick. A fantastic weekend was had by all our young players.

A huge thank you to all those who helped out over the weekend. To all those who supplied sandwiches, cakes, buns etc. Thank you so much you made our job so much easier with your generous donations. To the ladies who looked after the kitchen & supplied endless teas, sandwiches etc. Thank you.

We looked after 4 teams & their supporters on Friday evening & again on Saturday morning, we offered food to our visitors & supporters, no easy task but no one went hungry or thirsty.

Naturally, these events take a lot of work on the weekend of the event but so much work went into getting our Club ready in the months & weeks leading up to Feile.

The work carried out by so many people was greatly appreciated & their work was evident in the look of our grounds over the weekend. Paddy, Martin & Billy for helping to put up the flags & bunting, a time consuming job but one that really enhances the look of our facilities.

Thank you to all the stewards, umpires, linesmen who offered their help for the games. Thomas, thank you for your rendition of the National Anthem on Friday evening & to Robbie, our piper for the parade on Saturday you both added so much to the occasion. Mick Egan for making sure everything was in tip top shape, your help was greatly appreciated. Thank you to our GAA Management Committee, chairman Ger & secretary Marion for all your help & support over the last few months.

One man we have to mention is our groundsman Billy Nolan. The amount of our visitors who came over to ask who looked after our pitches was unbelievable. They could not get over the condition of our pitches, something we take for granted, but when so many others make such note, we should be very proud of how our pitches look. I think Billy’s hand was sore after all the people who went & shook his hand to say well done on his work.

We gave our visitors a fantastic impression of our club & we can be all proud of this achievement.

A special thank you to our Feile committee of Darren, Helen, Olive & Evelyn huge work was put into Feile over the last few months & all our work paid off to make it a weekend to remember. All the discussions & organising paid dividends to give our U14’s a brilliant weekend.

Finally, to our players the important people of the weekend. You were all great ambassadors for our club Taghmon/Camross. This is a weekend I hope you will all remember not for games won or lost but friendships & memories shared with your teammates, families, mentors & club members.

Taghmon/Camross can be proud of this young team & how they represented themselves over the weekend.
