We had a great line up of speakers and a very engaged audience with more than 420 people at the Rejuvenate Ireland events at the Ferrycarrig Hotel on June 21. Thanks to all of you dear readers that came and supported in so many ways.

The speakers were diverse, powerful, inspiring, thought-provoking and real. The event was energizing, refreshing and grounded and I was delighted to be involved in the organising in partnership with the Wexford Chamber of Commerce and Wexford County Council with support from Danone and Skillnet.

The speakers had many things in common whilst also being very different in their nature but a major common thread was the degree to which they all self-reflect to solve problems and improve how they are and their day-to-day performance.

They all gave a look at their inner-world and what it has taken them to get to where they are today. They also gave an insight into how they have used their struggles to make them stronger and better and how working through the difficulties brought solutions. They also showed how life is always changing and how identity changes and different internal struggles come up as we transition from one stage to another in life.

We had 14 powerful speakers including Mayor of Wexford Frank Staples. He set the tone for a very moving and inspiring evening. Local Heroes Liam Griffin and Gordon D’Arcy were highly engaging and motivating. Lieutenant Colonel Mary Carroll spoke of mindfulness in the Defence forces and how they use these practices to boost performance, leadership and wellbeing as well as an effective stress management tool.

David Bloch from Brightwater was highly practical and inspirational and showed the importance of Emotional Quotient in work and in life in connecting with people and achieving success.

Tracy Piggott touched everyone with her honesty and how adversity has made her stronger, better and more compassionate.

Colin Regan from the GAA spoke about the challenges we are facing as a society in terms of health and wellbeing and the solutions and amazing success they are having country-wide.

The Indian Ambassador was truly inspirational and shared how yoga helps us to connect and move from ‘me to we’ and how this can really serve to strengthen families, communities and society and grow us together.

Lise Hand touched so many with her humour and stories.

David Forde shared how meditation and yoga have helped me have a much better relationship with himself, his family and his team and grow as a person. Dennis Curran spoke in a powerful and practical way and touched minds and hearts by connecting with all.

Over the last days, we have had amazing feedback on the day.

Steve Black who is an incredible motivator spoke at the end and asked us all many questions to help in our own self-reflection day-to-day. The first was ‘How Hard did I try today’. This, I have been using over the last few days and it has inspired a lot of self-reflection in me. Very often we can frustrate ourselves by focusing on previous efforts that did not bear fruit or how things should or should not be.

This article cannot capture the amazing powerful insights shared on the day. It is just a snapshot of some small aspects of the powerful wisdom shared about how to be well and better in your life. At times, we can be overwhelmed at what is happening in the world but this process of self-reflection helps you focus where you can make a difference–in your own life and the lives of those around you. During this week, I encourage you to reflect on how you are doing and how hard you tried today. Wish you a wonderful week.
