GOLF CLASSIC

Some 59 teams took part in the combined Tullogher-Rosbercon and Glenmore GAA Clubs golf classic at New Ross Golf Club on Friday last.

On a day one would associate with the middle of November with a biting North westerly wind sweeping the course conditions were tough.

Still that did not deter the Kilkenny/Wexford combination of Donie Cody, Frank Boyle, John Joe Cullen and Willie Byrne from bringing in the winning score of 93 points. Second with 91 points were Patsy Farrell, John F Roche, Billy Redmond and Richie O’Connor. The non-GUI first prize went to Cian O’Donoghue’s team with Andy Doherty’s team taking second place.

Chair of Tullogher-Rosbercon, John Ryan, and chairman of Glenmore GAA, Paddy Murphy, thanked all who took part, the sponsors, the course staff for the magnificent condition of the course, the bar and restaurant staff, and all who made the classic a great success financially for both clubs.

THE CATS SURVIVE

In a hard fought game in the qualifiers at Nowlan Park two players from the above clubs made a great contribution to Kilkenny’s three point win (0-20 to 0-17) over a battling Limerick side. Eoin Murphy from Glenmore kept his goal intact while Walter Walsh from Tullogher-Rosbercon starred in the forward line.
