Apex pool to reopen this week

THE Apex pool is reopening on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, July 12, at lunchtime, a high-level glass panel collapsed in the roof, causing broken glass pieces to fall onto the pool deck and into the pool itself into the deep end.

The pool was immediately closed to protect pool users and nobody was injured. The fault was repaired and acted upon without delay.

In order to ensure the pool area and pool itself was entirely clear of broken glass, the pool was drained, thoroughly cleaned and refilled.

It took three days to empty the pool and three days to refill it and several days for thorough cleaning and inspection and three days to bring the pool to the correct temperature. In total the pool was closed for 13 days. The gym remained open as normal while the works were being carried out and all pool members had their memberships extended by the length of duration the pool was closed.

An Apex spokesperson said: ‘We would like to apologise to all our customers for the inconvenience caused.
